Building Bridges, LLC is a pediatric physical therapy clinic serving the Northland and surrounding areas of Northwest Missouri. Stephanie Parr, PT is the owner of Kids S.O.A.R., LLC, and Jenelle Hunnicutt, DPT is the owner of Bright Home Solutions, LLC. Together they are Building Bridges, LLC.
Stephanie and Jenelle met around 15 years ago when they were both living in Arizona. They became friends in adult Pilates classes where they shared a passion for fitness and wellness while enjoying the community support such a group class provides. Stephanie moved to Missouri in 2013, and Jenelle moved to Kansas in 2017. Stephanie and Jenelle feel that God led them back together and has given them the opportunity to work together on a shared vision as pediatric physical therapists. In addition to providing quality individual physical therapy, they have a vision to provide small group classes to connect families and build a sense of community.
“Two are better than one, for if either of them falls, one can help the other up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.
I have been a physical therapist for 24 years. In 1999, I graduated from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center with a Master of Physical Therapy degree. I absolutely love my job and feel very blessed to have worked with so many special kids and families throughout the years. My work experience has been in a variety of settings including schools, early intervention, out-patient clinics, aquatics, and hospitals. My prior experience as an adjunct professor teaching the pediatric courses for University of Saint Mary’s DPT program has given me a good understanding of development and the importance of education. I want to focus my developmental knowledge on educating parents on developmental sequence and skill acquisition while providing parents with the fun and practical tools to help their child meet their goals.
Currently, I am providing early intervention physical therapy services for the Missouri First Steps program. Providing strategies that will help a child gain new skills in their home environment while making meaningful connections and relationships is very rewarding. I love fitness and wellness and have been teaching Pilates and early morning exercise classes for 15 years. I received my Pilates training from Power Pilates and group fitness instruction from AFAA. I am excited to help open this clinic to connect other families and children together through small group classes. Creating a space to combine my passion for fitness and wellness with working with children with special needs has been a dream of mine. I am excited to serve children of all abilities in the Northland.
Smithville has been my home for the last 10 years. I enjoy time with my two girls, my husband, and my husband’s kids and grandchildren. My certified therapy dog, Mae, plans to join some classes. She loves working with kids too.
I am so excited to be serving the Northland community! I graduated from UC San Diego with my Bioengineering degree in the late 1990’s and worked briefly in the medical device field until I stayed home with my own four kids. Once my youngest entered grade school, I pursued my passion to combine my love of the human body and serving others by returning to physical therapy school for a second career. I graduated with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from KU Medical School in 2020. Since then, I have worked in a variety of settings including: school districts both in Kansas and Missouri, outpatient clinics, acute care hospital and providing home support through First Steps of Missouri. I believe in the importance of building family and child relationships to encourage development through play and enjoy working through challenges together. Being familiar with both Early Intervention and Schools, I am happy to help your family navigate the IFSP/IEP processes.
I love working with children and look forward to watching them grow in skills and confidence while providing family support to appreciate the uniqueness of each child. Please click on the link below for availability and current class offerings.
